Following on from my attempts at pastels, I returned to try oils for the first time. Under Julia’s tuition a very positive experience, due to her informative supportive approach.

We were give a photograph of a woodland scene with clumps of daffodils. Julia explained her method and executed it in bite sized steps, which we could easily absorb and then attempt to emulate in our own way.

I found the whole process to be fascinating, as well as surprisingly quick and easy re producing an impression of the picture. I also, very much appreciated Julia’s support regarding colour, not my strong point!

I recently spent two days with Julia, attempting a new medium, pastels. I can thoroughly recommend the experience !

Not only is Julia a wonderful artist, in all mediums, but also a very interesting , supportive and friendly teacher.

It was so inspiring to see how, with a limited palette, and deft brush strokes, she produces her lovely artworks. The pictures on display are a real testament to her talent.

After a decade’s break from practical art my confidence was low. However, with Julia’s help and support I actually produced something that looked like my subject matter. In the case of the pet portrait class Julia made sure that the picture actually looked like my dog!!!!

All the materials that we needed were provided as well as tea, coffee and homemade cake. We were given very comprehensive notes regarding pastels when we left and the instructions regarding the class and its location, sent beforehand, were very clear. I also found the students, in each class, to be very nice too.

I am hoping to attend more classes in the future.
