Print Mounting & Framing Options. You can choose to have your fine art print mounted or framed. Mounted prints are supplied in a presentation pack which includes mountboard and backing board in a cellophane wrap. Framed prints can use the standard framing options (below), or you can select from any of my framing products, which you can view [here].
Framed Painting. This frame design is from my standard range – Moulding Style 22 which you can view [here], in Obeche wood, hand finished with Farrow & Ball paint in three colour options.Ready To Hang. The frame is supplied ready to hang with all the fixings attached – so straight from the box to the wall.Glazing. I use Acrylic (you may recognise brand names like Plexiglass) for all my framing that requires glazing. Acrylic offers better protection against UV light than glass without specialised anti-UV treatments, it’s lighter and much less prone to transport damage, and it has no colour tint unlike glass.
Mounted Painting. The painting is mounted using conservation grade mountboard and backing boards, all presented in a cellophane wrap.I’ve opted for a single colour from my standard Conservation Grade Mountboard range – in this instance a Daler Tint 4 mountboard.
Colours On Your Screen. All screens show colour a little differently, so if you’re interested in seeing accurate framing colours, a paint colour card is the only way to go. I’ve included a link so you can obtain a (free) F&B colour card by clicking [here].
If you’ve ordered an Architectural Line Drawing you’ll receive a digital file as standard. For Pet Portraits & Architectural Watercolour Paintings the artwork needs to be scanned or photographed to create a primary digital file. These files can be used for many different purposes, and I can supply files to suit as required. The normal file format I supply is a jpeg.
If you require a particular file format for an application then just let me know. Please have a look at the tab below regarding Copyright & Reproduction which details the use and reproduction of the artwork and images.

Frequently Asked Questions - Architectural & Pet Portraits
In general Line Drawings start at £95.00, Watercolour Original Paintings at £195.00, and the Original Oil Paintings vary too much to give a useful average price. You can view the pricing for the first two on my online shop along with other details, if you’d like a price for a commission please get in touch.
The Line Drawings are usually completed within 1 working week, precise timing just depends on my workload at the time. The Original Watercolour Paintings generally takes around 2-3 weeks, again work-load dependent. I always confirm my anticipated despatch at the time of order. Original Oil Paintings usually take longer, in addition to scheduling, the subject and scale of the work can make a big difference to timing.
As standard I supply my artwork for non-commercial use, which allows for reasonable personal enjoyment and use, but excludes reproduction for profit or any commercial use. If you require artwork for commercial use I offer commercial licensing as required. Copyright to any artwork is automatically assigned to the artist, and remains with the artist unless stated expressly assigned in writing.
I usually work with mages from phone cameras, and as long as they’re in focus, well lit, and not too distorted from the wide angle of phone cameras lenses, there’s nothing special about the image. However, the content and perspective are critical, I can only create from what’s on the image so position yourself with perspective in mind when taking the image. I offer some advice on the best way to get the right image within the help tabs in each of the products.
A Line Drawing is a digital file by default, though it can also be supplied as a Giclée fine art print, and in turn this can be framed if required. An Original Watercolour Painting is painted on watercolour paper, though it can be supplied also as a digital file, and similar to the Line Drawing it can also be supplied framed.
Yes, I have some standard sizes that I work to, but I’m happy to chat about bespoke sizes if required. I note the standard sizes on each of the products but please do get in touch of you’d like more information.
I offer three printed products from Architectural Drawings or Paintings; Personalised Stationery: Boxed sets of notepaper and notecards, Greetings Cards: Premium quality print on heavyweight cardstock, Giclée Fine Art Prints: Printed using archival quality inks and papers. All of these products are designed, printed and made in my studio.
I offer preferential rates for framing along with plenty of style options, depending on your requirements and the artwork. I have a selection of standard framing themes that work well with Line Drawings & Original Watercolour Paintings, just get in touch if you’re interested in framing options. All my framing is made and finished in my studio.
I like to paint all types of animals and pets, in fact given the opportunity to paint for myself I often choose animals or birds – and those I can see from my studio window. If you have a special request or would like to discuss a particular subject please do get in touch.
I use the best quality materials available. My standard for pet portraits iwith oil paintings on cradled wood panels, beautifully made and suitable for hanging with or without framing. These panels are smooth allowing for all the texture of the oil paint and techniques to show through. For my pastel portraits I use a specialised paper particularly for pastel paintings which I then mount on a board.
I’ve found through experience that it’s a false economy to choose anything but the best quality boards, paints and of course paint brushes. I also work on prepared linen canvas, wood panels and papers with oil paints.
It depends, is the less than satisfying answer. There’s the size and complexity to take into account – however some portraits seem to almost reveal themselves, and others can be a little reluctant – posing a bit of challenge on occasion. On average though I’d say around 1-2 weeks for a pastel portrait and 3-4 for an oil portrait is probably about the norm depending on my workload. I do of course advise an estimated delivery when an order is received.
Yes of course, I’m happy to try and incorporate any particular features or elements that a client may require. As you can see from examples of my work I typically try and keep the background simple and abstract, this helps keep the focus of the portrait on the subject. It may be that if the changes required add significantly to the complexity, essentially the time involved to paint, I may need to increase the cost of the work.
Yes of course, custom sizes are available on request and can be sized to fit a specific place in your home, we can even consider colours for specific rooms so please get in touch. I’m happy to paint to any size requested – to date the largest has been approximately 2metres long by 1.5metres high oil on linen canvas. If you have a particular subject or portrait size in mind please get in touch and I’ll provide a quotation.
I only ask for a 50% payment with any order for standard size portraits, with the balance only being due when the portrait is completed and ready to be despatched. I also offer payments plans through 2rd parties like Klarna, Clearpay & PayPal.
One of my biggest concerns as an artist is that my clients are happy with my work. I created my Artist Contract [here] to ensure that all my clients know that if they’re unhappy with their portrait then I will waive the remaining 50% balance due. In over 25 years I have never been in the situation where a client has refused to accept a piece, however, I do understand that it’s important to be clear about obligations and responsibilities when creating a bespoke piece of art.
I offer a preferential framing service for clients who have commissioned an artwork. I and a range of standard options specifically for my pet & animal portraits, all of which are hand made and finished in my studio. I have included some framing options on these products but please get in touch if you require a particular framing scheme.
